Being Sicilian myself, and hearing my mother telling me stories about the war,it made me want to read this book to learn more about the time my mother was growing up. It opened my eyes to what my mother was talking about when she said we could not have any lights on at night, because we were afraid of the bombs. It is a wonderful story about the struggles of a family in those times of war,but it shows how families can go thur so much, and yet come together and be there for each other no matter what! Would recommend this book to any one with a beating heart.
